In honor of this week’s President’s Day, and thanks to our friends at Star Clippers Cruise Line, if you are so inclined, let’s salute the President! History reports that booze and politics were often bedfellows. George Washington served rum to voters to ‘encourage’ their favor during one election; LBJ is said to have convinced Anheuser–Busch to provide free beer during his campaign; Martin Van Buren was known for loving his whiskey cocktails; and Teddy Roosevelt was often seen enjoying his mint juleps. So for President’s Week, we celebrate past and present leaders with The President cocktail.
INGREDIENTS:
Ice Cubes
2 oz Light Rum
1 oz Orange Juice
¼ oz Grenadine
1 Twist Orange

DIRECTIONS:
Fill a shaker with ice cubes.
Add all ingredients.
Shake and strain into a cocktail glass.
Garnish with orange.
