Over the last year or two, I’ve been thinking more about our 50 states and all of the incredible places that can be found right here in the U.S. I’ve been dreaming of exploring more of this country, from the sun-kissed beaches of Florida to red wood forests of California and everywhere in-between.
When I think of all the places that I could help my clients travel to this summer, one place in particular stands out: ALASKA!
The best time of year to visit the Great North is summer when warmer weather and long daylight hours make it possible to take in the scenery. Here are a few of my favorite reasons to visit Alaska to inspire to plan your visit this summer.
Alaska is home to Denali, the tallest mountain in North America. It’s name means “the great one” and comes from the native Koyukon people who lived in the area of the mountain for centuries. At over 20,000 feet tall, it’s one of the most beautiful sights in the state.
When taking a wildlife tour through one of Alaska’s National Parks, be sure to keep your eyes out for the Big Five: moose, bears (both black bears and grizzly bears), Dall Sheep, Caribou, and Gray Wolves. Aside from catching glimpses of wildlife, Alaskan summers are filled with wildflowers and views of the most sweeping, peaceful landscapes in the United States.
The Northern Lights
Those who have witnessed the Northern Lights often say it’s one of the most magical things they’ve ever seen. Caused by the sun interacting with the Earth’s magnetic field, this incredible phenomenon starts its season in late August, making it the perfect reason to plan your late summer Alaska trip.
This year, the best ways to explore Alaska are by train and plane! Let’s talk about how we can make your dreams of an Alaskan adventure come true this summer.
