If you’ve been waiting to renew your passport or get one, don’t wait!
The U.S. State Department has massive delays currently as they begin to bring staff back for passport renewals and applications.
Word is that the State Department is overwhelmed and the agency is advising people to allow at least 6 months in advance.
As of the time of this posting, renewals submitted by mail could take as many as 18 weeks – and for those purchase expedited processing, they can expect to wait 12 weeks.
In person appointments are very hard to come by as well.
The State Department says they’re trying to restaff their offices and continue to work as quickly as they can – I’m not sure what that means in government terms, but – at least they are trying, but don’t wait any longer than necessary!
